We would like to welcome you all to www.station28.net. 

The Millstone Valley Fire Department has been proudly serving the Township of Franklin and the Borough of Millstone since 1929. We are a 100% Volunteer department that operates out of 1 Station housing 2 Engines (Engine 28 and Squad 28), 1 Special Service (Air 28), and 1 Brush Truck (Brush 28). In 2007 we responded to 633 calls for assistance including fires, fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents and other service calls. 

We are always looking for new members so please see our Volunteer Info page for more information. 

Being a 100% Volunteer service we also accept donations. Please use the paypal link in the menu on the left.

 
 
DRILL AT ACQUIRED STRUCTURE

On Tuesday October 28th members from Station 28 drilled at the acquired structure on Elizabeth Ave. 2 crews rotated through various drills including wall breaches, overhaul and low profile pack maneuvers.


 
   
   
 
MUTUAL AID HILLSBOROUGH TWP

At 17:20 on Tuesday evening, Station 28 was requested to the GSA Depot off East Mountainview Rd in Hillsborough for a large structure fire.  With 8 members already at the station, Engine 28 and Car 28 responded within moments.  Upon arrival Engine 28 began tanker shuttle operations and all manpower proceeded to the manpower pool.  As the operation progressed into the night Air 28 was requested to the scene for lighting.  At 21:55 Engine 28 cleared the scene after shuttling 15,000 gallons total.  Air 28 remained on scene while overhaul operations were performed.  After all shuttles completed, more than 105,000 gallons of water were shuttled.


 
   
   
 
SWEDE PHASE 5

On Tuesday, September 23rd the Millstone Valley FD attended the Swede Phase 5 simulator at Somerset County Emergency Training Academy.  Crews performed search and recue in intense heat conditions as well as learning to control thermal balance during extinguishment.


 
   
   
 
SQUAD 28 DEDICATION

The Millstone Valley Fire Department held our dedication for our new Seagrave Squad 28 on Saturday September 20th, 2008 from 12-6 at our Firehouse. TAXPAYER DRILL AT MIDDLESEX

On Wednesday August 27th we drilled at the Middlesex County Fire Academy taxpayer training tower. We ran several evolutions practicing on basement fires as well as 1 and 2 story dwelling fires.

SMALL STRUCTURE FIRE

At around 0300 hours on August 9th, Stations 28 and 26 were dispatched for a report of a fire in a field. Car 28 arrived first as command and reported working fire in parking lot of open field. Fire was extinguished by the crews of Brush 28 and Engine 28. After the fire was extinguished it was found to have been a Port-A-Jon that was burning. The worlds smallest structure fire!

At around 0015 hours, Stations 28 and 26 were dispatched to the area of Schoolhouse Rd and Cottontail Ln for a reported car fire. Car 28 arrived on scene as command and reported a working car fire behind Kids R Us. Engine 263 arrived shortly after and with the assistance from Squad 28 crew, the fire was extinguished without incident.


 
   
   
 
IN LOVING MEMORY

The Millstone Valley Fire Department regrets to inform you all with great sadness the passing of Life Member Harold Smith. Funeral arrangements have not been finalized but will be posted when we have them.

**UPDATE** Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the East Millstone United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, East Millstone. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook.

 
 
4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS

The Franklin Township fireworks will be held this Friday the 27th. All members attending the fireworks be at the station at 6:30 PM. We will be taking Engine 28 and Brush 28.

 
 
DAY AT THE RACES
Thursday, June 19, 2008
-
On Thursday June 19th Engine 28 and crew headed out to Englishtown for the NHRA Supernationals for a special standby. The crew was in charge of patrolling the vehicle parking areas on a 6 wheeler with South Old Bridge Fire Dept and standing by with the Engine for any incidents. Special thanks to East Franklin for assisting us in this all day event.

 
   
   
 
MUTUAL AID HILLSBOROUGH TWP

At around 2100 hours Station 28 was dispatched mutual aid into Hillsborough Twp for a cover assignment at Station 37. Hillsborough had experienced a large power loss in the areas of large apartment buildings and nursing homes. Squad 28 responded and upon arriving at Station 37 was then sent to a nursing home on E. Mountain Road to monitor the backup generator and standby for a possible evacuation. Power was restored and Squad 28 cleared without incident.

 
 
MUTUAL AID BARN FIRE HILLSBOROUGH TWP

At around 2200 hours Station 28 was dispatched mutual aid into Hillsborough Twp. for Engine 28 to respond for a tanker shuttle at a large barn fire on Township Line Road. Engine 28 responded and was put to work upon arrival. A few minutes later command requested Squad 28 with manpower to the scene. Squad 28 responded and the crew was put to work on hand lines.

 
 
CAR INTO BUILDING

District #1 was dispatched for a fire alarm activation at 4000 Chesterwood Way a three story multi-family building with underground parking garage in the Somerset Run community. The call was than updated by County to a vehicle into the building with entrapment. Car 26 arrived and discovered a car through the wall of the underground parking garage with significant damage to the buildings electrical service meters, the driver had self extricated himself. Due to the damage to the electrical service the building was ordered to be evacuated. Fire units operated for several hours assisting with the evacuation of the 36 units within the building.
